MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the 100 Club of Nevada is to provide immediate financial aid and support to dependent families of First Responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty, and to provide resources that enhance their safety and welfare.

BOARD MEMBERS

William Middleton

William Middleton began his fire service career as a volunteer at age 16 with the Encinitas Fire Department, ultimately retiring as Assistant Fire Chief, Operations, of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. A Vietnam veteran of the US Navy, William’s commitment to serving his country has been unwavering. His passion for community welfare extends beyond his military service, as evidenced by his role as a Trustee on the Douglas County Sheriff’s Advisory Council and his extensive history of volunteering. William comes from a fire service family with his father retiring as a Fire Captain in the LAFD and his son following in his footsteps as a Fire Captain in the SDFD. Additionally, his second son serves as a Commander in the US Coast Guard, further solidifying the family’s legacy of service. Dedication to public safety runs in the Middleton family blood. With 47 years of marriage to his beloved wife Mary Ann, William has exemplified steadfast dedication both in his personal and professional life. Transitioning to civilian life, William has continued his service in Nevada since 2014, embodying the principles of duty, honor, and sacrifice as both a husband, father, and proud grandfather.

PRESIDENT

Richard Leap

Rich Leap is a seasoned firefighter with a remarkable career spanning over three decades. Retiring as a Battalion Chief from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, Rich’s commitment to public service and safety is unparalleled. During his tenure, Rich served as the Task Force Leader of FEMA Urban Search & Rescue California Task Force 8, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise in emergency response and disaster management. Even after retirement, Rich’s dedication to community welfare continues. He has been an active volunteer with the Disabled American Veterans and VA Hospital in Reno, embodying the spirit of service and compassion.

Rich’s journey in public service began in the US Navy, where he served with honor and dedication. He furthered his education at San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. He served as a volunteer with the Douglas County NV Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team for seven years, responding to missions in extreme conditions.  He also provided training in fire behavior and served as the team’s Secretary. In addition to his professional endeavors, Rich is deeply involved in civic and social organizations. He is a proud member and former officer of Elks Lodge #2177 in Carson City, Nevada. Despite being the sole firefighter in a family dominated by law enforcement professionals, Rich has made an indelible mark in his field. Since settling in Nevada in 2009, he has become an integral part of the community. Rich is not just a firefighter; he is also a devoted family man, proud father, and loving grandfather. His unwavering commitment to service and safety continues to inspire those around him.

VICE-PRESIDENT

Kate Warner

Kate Warner is currently the Administration Division Officer for the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District.  Her division is responsible for all the financial, accounting, contractual, legal, audit, actuarial, insurance, and compliance regarding a 33M fiscal year budget. Warner also oversees HR services including recruitment, employee/retiree relations and benefits for 125 full-time and seasonal employees; and the retiree health trust administration.

SECRETARY

Drew Aguilar

Drew is the Owner of Carson Valley Accounting and has over 30 years in the CPA world. He loves to help individual and business clients!

Originally from Napa, Drew and wife Charleen moved here in 2004 to start Carson Valley Accounting. They have two children – Diane works for CVA at the Lake Tahoe office and Matt lives in Elk Grove with his wife, Jessica and their amazing daughters, Ava and Ivy. A devoted fan of the Golden State Warriors, Drew also coached high school basketball in California for 14 years.

Drew’s volunteer activities are numerous, as he has brought his expertise as a volunteer to the Boards of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada, the Austin Kirby Foundation, the Carson Valley Medical Center Hospital Foundation, MEFIYI and the Douglas County Community Center Foundation. He’s a 2005 graduate of Leadership Douglas County, an active Rotarian and one of 8 Volunteer Chairs of the American Century Championship. Drew was recognized as the Carson Valley Citizen of the Year in 2013.

TREASURER

Maura Parga

Maura “Mo” Parga hails from San Diego, California, where she began her distinguished career in law enforcement as a San Diego Police Officer. Over a span of 32 years with the San Diego Police Department, Maura served in various communities and specialized units, leaving an indelible mark. Early in her career, Maura excelled as a full-duty Mounted Officer and became the unit’s esteemed trainer. Rising through the ranks, she transitioned into detective roles where she showcased her expertise across multiple units including Vice, Mexico Border Gang, Narcotics, Robbery/Kidnapping, and Homicide Cold Case/Missing Persons. Her investigative prowess was pivotal in resolving numerous high-profile cases involving child and elder homicides.

In 2019, after 35 years of marriage to her husband Michael, Maura retired and relocated to Gardnerville, Nevada. Embracing her passion for community service, she swiftly engaged as a dedicated volunteer. Currently, Maura serves as President of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Mounted Unit, where under her leadership, the unit supports community youth through scholarships and trade school funds. Additionally, the unit honors veterans and brings joy to senior homes through mounted visits. Maura is also an active member of the Elks Lodge in Gardnerville, Nevada, where she continues her volunteer efforts, particularly focused on assisting veterans and first responders. She remains committed to providing the Riderless Horse (Caparisoned Horse) honor at memorials for fallen officers and veterans. As a proud board member of NV100, Maura extends her support to families of first responders, embodying her dedication to service and community welfare.
